40-42 High Street

This building was original built in 1939 for Burtons and is in their classic style. Unfortunately, to build it two very old buildings - including Chequers Inn - were demolished. Since Burtons closed, the building has been divided into several shops, while part of it for a long time was a snooker club and now a nightclub.
